IPCCFollowing on from the highly successful inaugural IPCC event in 2011 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, IM Events has great pleasure in announcing our second annual In-Pit Crushing and Conveying event, which takes the gathering from one of the world’s iron ore production hubs to one of the world’s fastest growing surface coal mining and large scale contract mining markets. In fact, four contractors account for 90% of all coal mine output – namely PAMA, BUMA, Thiess and SIS – with coal production in the country growing at 10% of more annually. And IPCC has yet to make a significant impact, though this is set to change. And the country is not limited to coal – Irian Jaya is home to arguably the world’s richest copper-gold mine, Grasberg; while Bali as a hub is easily reached from India, China, Southeast Asia and Australasia – all of which have significant IPCC growth potential across several mine types.

Bali DancersWhat is exciting about this conference is that by late 2012, several very large new IPCC systems will have been put in place globally, which will provide new avenues for discussion. However, the drivers for looking at IPCC remain the same – elimination of high fuel and labour costs associated with truck and shovel mining; and increased mass material movement efficiency for high tonnages.

Once again, the meeting will bring together OEMs, mining houses, consultants, contractors and component suppliers in a unique forum for knowledge sharing on conventional truck and shovel alternatives, including semi-mobile and mobile in-pit crushing and conveying solutions, as well as new approaches to waste conveying and spreader systems. This time the event will be slightly larger, with an evening reception on 24th followed by two full days of presentations. It is also the intention that the 2012 meeting will include a field trip to an Indonesian coal operation that employs a full IPCC system or aspects of IPCC - this is likely to be after the main event. In addition, we are offering a larger number of exhibitor booths this time, in response to the level of interest, however, these will still be limited so as not to take the focus away from the papers.

BaliThemes to be covered include:

  • Mine planning, and truck-shovel versus IPCC
  • Design criteria for IPCC
  • Fully Mobile IPCC
  • Semi Mobile IPCC
  • Conveyor systems for waste handling
  • Real mine case studies
  • Relocation of IPC and conveyor system
  • Other alternatives – surface miners, bucketweel systems

There will once more be sponsorship opportunities on offer – from delegate bags to lanyards, pens, receptions and others. For information on these and/or to express interest in presenting a paper, please contact Paul Moore, IM Events Director, at paul@im-mining.com
